Data Storage |
| |
| Information is wealth, as Information Technology cruises forward with new means of manipulation and presentation of data, Taurus offers various solutions available for data backup. We deal with latest Storage solutions in the industry. They are available as :
|
| |
JBOD |
DAS |
| JBOD( Just A Bunch Of Disks ). A subsystem of hard drives - used to refer to computer hard disks that have'nt been configured according to the RAID. JBOD combines independent drives that are not configured according to RAID into one logical volume. It does not offer fault tolerance. |
In the world of network storage,DAS (Direct Attached Storage) is the king where small networks are concerned. In simplest terms, DAS is like your desktop system with its internal hard disks and tape drives, external peripherals, etc except that it's also serving as a network.- DAS is good for small networks.
- Is fast
- Can be attached to SAN or NAS box.

NAS |
SAN |
NAS (Network Attached Storage) is storage attached via your network. The NAS box does all it's communicating with your network/application server via Ethernet using network communications protocols. A NAS box can be any type of file server, RAID box, etc. as long as it can communicate in this fashion.
- Installs easily
- Relatively inexpensive
- Accessed virtually by any type of servers
|
A SAN (Storage Area Network) is a separate back-end network that sits behind the server and is dedicated to storage traffic and devices. These devices include multiple servers, disk drives/RAID arrays and tape libraries which are networked or linked together via a technology called Fibre Channel -- a very high-speed serial data transfer architecture.A new SIP softphone from SIPfoundry- Access to all centrally held files
- Is Fast
- Using Fibre Channel technology data can be backed up

| RAID Storage |
The RAID(Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) was to combine multiple small, inexpensive disk drives into an array of disk drives which yields performance exceeding that of a Single Large Expensive Drive
Taurus has its own external RAID storage solutions based on SATA / SCSI drives. Connectivity used is FireWire/USB/SCSI. |
|
| |
Additionally, this array of drives appears to the computer as a single logical storage unit or drive. There are many types of RAID architecture available now a days.
RAID-0 , RAID-1, RAID-2, RAID-3, RAID-4, RAID-5, RAID-0+1. |
